Sega's 1988 title Altered Beast is a side-scrolling beat-em-up vaguely inspired by Greek mythology. Players assume the role of a resurrected warrior tasked by Zeus to save his daughter Athena. Defeating white wolves will grant orbs that progressively increase the protagonist's musculature, eventually transforming him into a variety of mythical beasts.
